V�lociraptor osmolskae

Pyroraptor a �crit : A second species, V. Une deuxi�me esp�ce, V. osmolskae , was named in 2008 for skull material from Inner Mongolia. osmolskae, a �t� nomm� en 2008 pour cr�ne mat�riel de Mongolie int�rieure.
On a un maxillaire sup, et un lacrymal d'apr�s, il fut nomm� en l'honneur d'Osmolska.
J'ais pas trouv� le pdf par contre j'ais la ref:

ABSTRACT: A new mamenchisaurid dinosaur, Eomamenchisaurus yuanmouensis gen et sp. nov. is erected based on an incomplete skeleton from the Zhanghe Formation, the Middle Jurassic of Yuanmou, Yunnan Province. The new taxon is characterized by absence of pleurocoels in dorsal vertebrae and the dorsal verterbrae with slightly convex anterior articular surfaces, moderately concave posterior articular surfaces; the fourth trochanter is developed posteromedially on the femur; length ratio of the tibia to the femur is approximately 0.64; and the shaft of the ischium is rod-like. Two fused centra of the posterior dorsal vertebrae (the presumed 9th and the 10th dorsal vertebrae) are similar to those in other mamenchisaurid dinosaurs, including Mamenchisaurus hochuanesis, M. youngi and Chuanjiesaurus anaensis. Therefore, fusion of centra of the ninth and the tenth dorsal vertebrae can be recognized as a synapomorphic character of the Mamenchisauridae.

Tik�mi a �crit : Le poisson d�couvert, Materpiscis attenboroughi (une nouvelle esp�ce), contient un embryon reli� par un cordon ombilical. C'est une �vidence que ces poissons pouvaient donner naissance � des petits bien form�s, cela implique �galement que leur mode de f�condation �tait interne, et qu'ils �taient ovovivipares (comme certains requins et raies actuels), des caract�res tr�s d�riv�s.
La d�couverte est publi� dans le Nature d'aujourd'hui.

En surfant sur le web pour m'informer des derni�res d�couvertes
sur les dinosaures, j'ai d�couvert ce nouvel article de Tereschenko, un russe, sur le mode de vie des Protoceratopsoidea.
Voil� le r�sum� de son article en anglais:

The analysis of some morphological characteristics of protoceratopoid skeletons, the extent of
mobility of the vertebral column, and the probable adaptive significance of these features suggest that Bagac-
eratops had a mostly aquatic mode of life, Protoceratops was semiaquatic, Udanoceratops was facultatively
aquatic, and Leptoceratops was predominantly terrestrial. Protoceratopoids were quadrupeds, with the preva-
lence of hind limbs, probably using slow or rapid trotlike gait. An asymmetrical locomotion was most likely
impossible. On dry land, Bagaceratops and Protoceratops moved slowly. Udanoceratops and Leptoceratops
approximately equally used rapid and slow locomotor modes, although the second could run for a longer time
than the first.

Ce qui donne (plus ou moins) en fran�ais :

L'analyse de plusieurs caract�ristiques morphologiques du squelette des Protoceratopsoidea, l'�tendue de la mobilit� de la colonne vert�brale et l'importance probable de ces caract�res d'un point de vue adaptatif, sugg�rent que Bagaceratops avait un mode de vie principalement aquatique, que Protoceratops fut semi aquatique, qu'Udanoceratops fut occasionnellement aquatique et que Leptoceratops fut principalement terrestre. Les Protoceratopsoidea �taient quadrup�des avec des membres post�rieurs pr�dominants qui furent probablement utilis�s pour une locomotion lente ou rapide de type "trot". Une locomotion asym�trique fut tr�s certainement impossible. Udanoceratops et Leptoceratops utilisaient un mode de locomotion rapide ou lent de mani�re presque similaire bien que Leptoceratops avait la possibilit� de courir plus longtemps qu'Udanoceratops.

H�las, il n'est pas possible d'avoir acc�s � cette publication en ligne et je n'ai donc pas lu l'article mais ce papier propose une th�orie tr�s sujette � discussion. Des dinosaures aquatiques, cela va presque � l'encontre de leur d�finition...

Lexovisaurus a �crit : Bon ok, racourcie vite fait et facile, mais n'emp�che que c'est une gigantesque pollution au p�role qui aurais eu un role non n�gligeable dans l'extinction de masse il y a 65Ma (surtout pour les annimaux marin et cotier)
